The over fifties now account for 43% of all adults in the UK, making
21.6 million adults over 50, and this figure is set to increase to 25 million adults by 2020 and
by 2025 half the adult population in the United Kingdom will be aged 50 or over. With 14,226 people turning fifty
every week and 85% having private pensions, estimates suggest that they possess 80% of all private wealth in the
UK and an estimated £175 million in disposable income. Given these figures it is not difficult to see
why many financial providers offer specific insurance products for those aged over 50.

WELCOME TO THE OVER FIFTIES WEBSITE.
|
Overfiftiesinsurance.com is an independent insurance information website. Whether
you are looking for car insurance, life insurance, pet insurance, home insurance, travel insurance or even wedding insurance
you can find details on what is available and any offers that insurers are offering to you. We have looked at many of
the well known and less well known insurers to see what they are offering.
Today not only do those over fifty
have the advantage of maturity and the knowledge that age brings, but they are part an age group that many companies
actively target and so this enables you to take advantage of offers that those under 50 can't. For instance many life
insurers offers free gifts with over 50's life insurance that are not available on under 50's policies.
For example currently LV=Liverpool Victoria
are offering new customers taking out an Over 50 Life Insurance Plan online £30 of M&S Vouchers FREE.
One area where those over the age of 65 can struggle
to find insurance cover is travel insurance as many travel insurance companies still persist in having age restictions even
though this age group is estimated to take the most holidays. In 2010 there were 10.3 million people aged 65 in the UK and the number of people aged 85 and over had doubled over
the last 15 years to 1.4 million. Fortunately we have gone through the small print to find insurers who do offer
travel insurance whether it be single trip or annual/multi trip for those after over 65s Travel
Insurance.
LATEST OVER 50's News. March 2013 - If you have not yet used this years ISA allowance the current tax year ends on 5th April.
December 2012 - Individuals over the age of 50 were proportionally
harder hit during the recession than those who were less well off when the economic crisis struck, according to a new study.
It is estimated that the average individual over 50 has seen a drop in their household income of around ten per cent. This
equates to a loss of almost £60,000. This trend is believed to be due to a mixture of falling house prices, stock markets
and pension funds, as well as the fact that people of this demographic were more likely to make investments, experts explained. New
European rules mean that from 21 December 2012, women are likely to pay more when taking out new life cover and critical illness
insurance.
Why will women pay more for life insurance?
Because this change in law states insurance providers will no longer be able to use gender to calculate
your premiums, which means that it may cost women around 15% more for life insurance next year. So if you’ve been thinking
about taking out cover, now is the time to take action.
Research by insurance firm RIAS has found that
the over fifties have up to £2.6 billion worth of uninsured items in their gardens. ONLINE OFFERS
